Lepe Country Park – Where the New Forest Meets the Solent
It is impossible not to fall for this captivating coastal park. From over a mile of beach you can enjoy sensational views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight, or watch the windsurfers and sailing boats skimming the waves. Walking routes offer anything from a casual stroll to a countryside ramble, and open spaces provide an ideal spot for a picnic or family game. A children’s play area offers outdoor adventure, and an exciting events programme highlights the diversity of options in the park.
Surrounded by nature reserves, Lepe boasts a rich wildlife. Birds wade along the shore; butterflies sip nectar in the flourishing wildflower meadows; and plenty of life can be found beneath the waters of our pond. Located within the New Forest National Park, the nearby lanes offer cyclists a gateway to explore more of southern Hampshire’s enchanting countryside.
A fantastic resource for the local community, Lepe has a thriving Friends’ Group, whose volunteers provide valuable support for the park. They also enjoy walks, talks and social events throughout the year. Lepe is also a great place for outdoor learning with excellent ranger-led and self-guided activities in the park’s diverse habitats. Our new well-equipped classroom provides a sheltered location in a tranquil environment, 12 months of the year. Historical interest can also be discovered in Lepe’s links to D-Day, when more than 6000 soldiers left from these beaches for the invasion of Normandy.
